Hi, I'm James.
I'm the designer behind Pixel North. I build websites for small businesses from my base in Winnington, Northwich, and I work with every client directly, from the first chat to launch day.
Why I do this
I've spent 17 years working in technology, more than 12 of them in software companies, in implementation, professional services and operations. The job was always much the same: take something complicated, agree what "done" looks like, and get it delivered without leaving the client confused.
Small businesses deserve that same careful approach, without the jargon or the hand-offs. That's why I started Pixel North.
How I work
- One designer. No account managers and no hand-offs. You talk to me, and I build your site.
- Plain English. I explain things simply and keep the jargon out.
- A clear written quotation. After an initial consultation, you get it in writing: what's included, the timescale and the cost.
- Short, visible steps. You always know where your site is up to.
My background
- 17 years working in technology.
- More than 12 years in software-as-a-service companies, across implementation, professional services and operations.
- Experience managing client relationships, large portfolios of projects and cross-functional teams.
- A Diploma of Higher Education in Computing and Information Technology from the Open University, a PRINCE2 qualification and a BCS Certificate in Business Analysis.
Based in Northwich
I'm based in Winnington, Northwich. If you're local, I'm happy to meet at your premises or over a coffee in town, and the coffee's on me. My first client was Fast Parts, a motor factor with shops in Northwich and Winsford, and I designed and built their website.
You can read more about working with me locally on the web designer in Northwich page, or see how it works across the county in web design in Cheshire. I work with small businesses anywhere in the UK too, by phone, video call and email.
Let's have a chat.
