Who we are

This website is run by Pixel North Limited (company number 16490976), a freelance web design business based in Cheshire and working with small businesses across the UK. Pixel North Limited is responsible for your personal data. You can contact us at james@pixel-north.co.uk or by phone on 07846 012932.

What this site collects

The pages themselves don’t store personal data. With your consent, the site uses Google Analytics cookies to count visits and see how the site is used. If you say no, those cookies aren’t set. A cookie that remembers your choice is always on. See the cookie policy for details, and you can change your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer.

Each time you accept, reject or change your analytics choice, we also save a short record of it, so that we can show what you agreed to and when. The record contains a random ID (also held in your cookie), the date and time, your choice, the version of our cookie policy you saw, and the page you were on. It doesn’t contain your name, email address or IP address.

The site has an optional chat assistant. If you use it, the questions you type are sent to Cloudflare’s AI service, which writes a reply from the information on this site. The chat is automated, so please don’t put personal or sensitive details in it. We don’t keep a record of what you type, and the chat doesn’t use cookies. Cloudflare may log technical information about the request, such as your IP address.

If you fill in the contact form, the details you enter (your first and last name, email address, business name, your current website address if you give one, what you need, and your message) are sent through a form service, Web3Forms, which emails them to us and keeps a copy in our account. We use them to reply to your enquiry.

Other forms on this site work in the same way. The details you enter depend on the form, and may include a promo code. If a form has a consent box or a marketing box, we also keep a record of whether you ticked it. We use these details to process your request and get in touch about it.

If you phone us, we may note your name, your number and what you called about, so that we can reply or follow up. We treat these notes in the same way as contact form enquiries.

How we use your details

We use your details to reply to your enquiry, discuss your project, and prepare a quotation. The legal basis is that this is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or otherwise in our legitimate interests in running our business.

If you tick a marketing box on one of our forms, we’ll also use your name and email address to send you news, tips and offers from Pixel North. The legal basis for this is your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

We don’t sell your details. Apart from those marketing emails, which you choose to receive, we don’t use them for marketing. We only share them with service providers that help us run our business, such as our email providers.

We use analytics data only to understand and improve the site. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through “Cookie settings”.

We keep the record of your cookie choices only to show that we have respected them, and never for analytics or marketing. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in being able to show that we asked for your consent properly, as data protection law requires.

How long we keep them

If you don’t become a client, we keep your enquiry for up to 12 months and then delete it. If you do become a client, we keep records for as long as needed to do the work and to meet legal and accounting requirements, which is usually up to six years.

Records of your cookie choices are kept for 12 months and then deleted. Analytics data is kept in Google Analytics for up to 14 months. Web3Forms keeps a copy of each form submission in our account for 30 days and then deletes it. We keep the details of your enquiry in our own records for up to 12 months, as above. If you ticked the marketing box, we keep your email address for marketing until you unsubscribe.

Transfers outside the UK

Some of the companies above, including Google and Cloudflare, are based in the United States or may process data outside the UK. Web3Forms is run from India and uses companies in the United States and the European Union. Where data leaves the UK, we rely on the protections these companies put in place, as required by UK data protection law. For Web3Forms, these are standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum, set out in a data processing agreement.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or stop using it. In some cases you can also ask for it in a portable format. To do any of these, email us at the address above. If you’d like to see the record of your cookie choices, send us the ID held in your pn_consent cookie (the part after the dot), because the record doesn’t contain anything else that identifies you.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
