Getting a website for your small business raises a lot of questions. Here are the ones we get asked most, in plain English. If yours isn't here, just ask.

What does Pixel North do?

We design and build websites for small businesses. You work directly with James, the designer, from the first chat to launch day, so nothing gets lost in translation.

How much does a small business website cost?

We don't publish a price list, because every business needs something different. After a short initial consultation, you get a clear written quotation that says what you get, when you get it and what it costs.

How long does it take to build a website?

Some sites can be live in as little as a week. The real timing depends on the size of the site and how quickly we can get your text, photos and feedback. Your written quotation gives a realistic timescale for your project.

Who will I be working with?

You'll work directly with James. Pixel North is run by one designer, so there are no hand-offs and no account managers. The person you talk to is the person building your site.

Where are you based?

We're in Northwich, Cheshire, and we meet clients in person across Cheshire. We work with small businesses anywhere in the UK, by phone, video call and email. If you're not sure whether we're a good fit, just ask.

Will my website work on phones?

Yes. Every site we build is designed to work on phones, tablets and computers, and to load quickly.

Will my website show up on Google?

We build the foundations into every site: clear page titles and descriptions, a layout that works on phones, fast pages and a sitemap for Google. Nobody can honestly promise you the top spot, though. Where you appear also depends on things like your Google Business Profile, reviews and how much useful content you publish, and we're happy to point you at what matters most for your business.

Do I need a domain name?

Your website needs a domain name, such as yourbusiness.co.uk, so that people can find it. If you already have one, we'll use it. If not, we can advise on what to buy. The domain should be registered in your name, so it stays yours.

I already have a website. Can you improve it?

Yes. A redesign is a perfectly good place to start. The contact form has a space for your current website, so we can have a look before we talk.

Do you provide a privacy notice and cookie policy?

Where your site needs them, yes. If it collects information through a contact form or uses analytics, you'll need both. We provide a privacy notice and cookie policy as a starting point. They aren't legal advice, so check that they suit your business.
